The aim of this blog group is to collaborate on one online thread using a forum, blog or wiki which focuses on the application of minimum core within your practice. The thread must include:
Contributions from each member of your group
Examples of the application of minimum core specifications in literacy, mathematics and ICT across your specialist areas (i.e.at least one example of each, per group), in teaching, learning, and assessment.
The reflective discussion should include appropriate cross-referencing to the minimum core specifications, and should explore (with reference to theory/literature) how elements of minimum core can be demonstrated in teaching, learning and assessment.

ReplyDeleteWe are reflecting as part of the presentation work for this unit on the VLE.
As this link shows we have worked collaboratively to bring together the presentation.
DeleteI think we worked well together and supported each other in the use of ICT, and in doing so allow others in the team to appreciate embedding more easily and further uses of the Technology available.
I also think that i have personally been able to appreciate other uses for numeracy and literacy from the automotive and engineering side of things and possibly apply this to the practice in computing.
Sometimes you really dont realise how or what you can include as part of embedding the minimum core.
Please find examples of how we in motor vehicle embed maths, English and ICT, in many of our lessons we use maths without even thinking about it, we very often look at technical data that involves the student checking a measure ment and then subtracting that from the date to record how much wear a piece of the braking system for example has on it, we very often have to work out how much fuel a vehicle uses by doing very simple calculations to work out the MPG. English is used, as with nearly all subjects, all of the time because the students have to fill in gapped hand out (writing) they have to read information that is posted on the smart board and they have to speak (question answering) so we pretty much cover English, as I said, all the time. ICT is used when we are in our tutorial sessions by the way of the student updating their Promonitor account every week and adding new item of interest, we also use ICT in the workshop when using the diagnostic equipment which is a hand held computer, that has to have information put in to it so that it can give an accurate responce and give a full diagnostic report.
